What should we do to increase literacy in Nepal?
For increasing the number of educated individual in Nepal , the following points should be brought into effect.

• Providing people with basic needs such as food, shelter, clothes is the first thing to do. To be honest people can live without education but living without above mentioned needs is impossible. After the fulfillment of basic needs is only when people will think about education.

• Brain drain is also another reason. The well educated people who know the importance of knowledge are going away in the quest to utilize their knowledge in the outer world. And only few educated people are left to change the education system which makes the work difficult. Utilization of the educated people is very important in my view.

• People in the rural areas of Nepal often think education as a waste of time and money. To make people realize the actual value of education awareness programs, dramas, plays can be organized. People often live studying because of in ability to buy materials, donating of books, pencils and other material may be a great step.

• For me , education is not about going to a school 8 hours a day. For me education is about learning rather reading . Seminars, conference, these are important way from which people can be educated. Organizing camps time to time where people are taught various things which can be applied in their daily life is very important. And if people are considering degree as education , then providing a degree for every program they participate in will be useful.

• Internet can be a means to educate people but this is a little tough as many people don’t have access to internet. But other forms of media such as radios, Televisions , Newspaper can be used . A channel can be opened where people are provided with essential knowledge every now and then.

If people would word hand in hand to educate their community, it is not very difficult to increase the literacy rate.
